Default ITR cams Bad for F/I

I have ITR cams in my B16 right now and i am boosting at the end of the month only 7 psi on the Greddy kit though. So are ITR cams that bad to have for boost? And if they are and i cant Afford GSR's will the stock cams still be better then the ITR's?

Thanks, Jon

Yes the GSR cams are better for boost. I have seen GSR cams for $100 so you could sell your ITRs and buy GSRs and make money. I don't know how different the GSR cams are than your stockers though.

I could be wrong. I am not speaking from experience. But I have read alot of posts about the GSR cams being better. I know alot of boosted ITR guys go with GSR cams.

I know the GSR's are better but i was basically wondering is if i dont have the cash after the turbo for the GSR's should i just put my stock cams back in or would those just be even wurse then the ITR's? Sorry for the confusion in my first question.

ITR cams are fine with boost - see my dyno numbers at 10-11psig.

If for some reason you go to GSR's you could finance that by selling your ITR cams, I guarantee they would sell quickly...

Who says ITR cams suck for boost?Integra Type R cams and Boost=616whp/375ft-lb torque!

First one up in the SEARCH feature BTW.

I'd like to see similar results on a milder setup w/stock redline.

Yeah I hate this stupid Cam debate. Everyone always says these are best, they made so and so horspower. Well fact is that doesn't mean ****, There needs to be a before and after comparison. No more of these stupid response " Gsr or Itr cams are better because I made xxx power"

Lets see some dyno comparison's so we can make this thread worthwhile. I always tell myself If i win the lottery im going to buy a **** load of parts, and spend thousand of dollars to see what parts/setups actually makes power and what doesn't.

Damn...I saw this question asked like 5,323,436,235 times before my year long hiatus from Hondas. The never ending ITR cams suck/don't suck for boost threads are coming back to haunt me yet again!!

Everybody knows the LS tranny is the best for boost .

The problem with our beloved technical forum is too many people think their opnions and unsupported theories are facts when they are actually figments of their own misguided imaginations.

Your best bet would be to use the cams that you already have. If you really want to use GSR cams your best bet would be to find a NA GSR owner and setup some type of trade. Before finalizing the deal take the car to a DYNO and check both cams. Look for horsepower throughout powerband instead peak power only!!

Here is my experience with a Japanese friend's setup:
EK4 Civic SIR with a B18CR, GT3240, 9.0:1 copression, Power FC at 1.35bar of boost, and the AFR was a conservative 11.5:1.
ITR cams produced 422 peak whp @ 8600rpm
GSR produced 408 whp @ 8400rpm but also produced 15~20 more horsepower from 4400rpm to 7500.

Now those numbers were grossly affected by the original tuners hacking and lack of experience with turbo Honda's since he was a diehard Nissan fan. The new turner (former Nismo and Mugen F1 tech who went private) has the car in the low 500whp range @ 1.5bar but the GSR cam still produces slightly more midrange power (3~7whp).

dont be a *****.. he has a b16.. stick some springs and retainers in that bitch and turn it to 9500 rpms.

the dyno dosnt lie and terry gained over 30hp from switching from gsr to itr cams. 30hp is no joke. thats a 5% gain..... take it down to a 300hp engien and thats 15hp. so he can make a couple bux, do all the work to swap cams and then loose 15hp.. gettem buddy

peak number are for web surfers. if you gain 30whp peak, but, lose 15-20whp over a 3000rpm spread, it is obvious that many enthusiasts are mislead. the wise look at the entire powerband (area under the curve) and, the "spring chickens" love peak #'s. this is an exercise of futility.
