Default 17's, good or bad?

Got a 91 civ hatch. I was scopin' out some 16's...found some wicked 5Zigen's I liked, but they only come in 17 and 18. I KNOW 18's rub, but will 17's? Get me some pix of ya'll's rides on 17's cuz I'm curious what kinda room I have to deal with would be and such. Ya'll post anything I need to know too, PLEASE. Suspension I'm lookin' at Ground Control and Bilstein. Thanks again...

By the way...the rims to the left are NOT the 5Zigs, those are the spoon 16's I was considering...

I had 17's on my SiR and it was the worst thing that I ever did. The car looked good but felt like crap.

all of the above, unless its not droped to much it will rub, it WILL ride worse because there is basically no sidewall. your acceleration will be slower.

you said you wanted to see pictures, so here's a couple pictures of my buddy's old hatch on 17's just for reference. for suspension, he had tokico blues and skunk2 coilovers. i dont really remember it rubbing much, but then again, i didnt get to drive it more than a couple times. imo theyre still too big .. i like 15's or 16's

16x7 205/40/16 tires 42offset is a really good fit and also fills the car nicely

the only way 17's are going to look good is if its slammed to the weeds, otherwise its just goin to look higher. ive dropped mine about 60mm up front and 90mm at the back and it looks great but of course that required alot of arch modification. i had to fold the lip up on all arches and on the front i had to smooth the crease out in the middle aswell(sort of an extension of the curve) if u no what i mean. they also needed me to take a big hammer to my inner arch and a knife to the liner which was fun.

17's on an EF is just ridiculous looking, 16's are even to big. I think 14's and 15's with very minimal wheel gap looks perfect 17's

well bro if u got the Big brake kit like myself u can't go 15" or 14"

so sorry but some of us have no choice but to start from 16"

and in my opinion I think 16" on a EF is pretty badass looking

had it before

but wish 15" for the lighten weight

IMO, 16 inch wheels are perfect. 15 inch don't hold up the car too well--they look a little too small.

17's aren't that bad. The ride is more bumpy but I don't have any problems with rubbing or anything. 17's on stock struts and 2" lowering springs.

Ya'll rock my world, I'm stepping down to 16's then. And honestly, I don't care about roughness, I plan on in the end autocrossing and racing. Wherever, you know...strip...I-75...wherever, haha. So pretty much this is my race, but still in plans to look badass. Sucks for a girl that's lookin' for luxury. As for the drop, yes, I am planning to drop it and make it little less than rock-hard. As for which 16's, now I've got a problem. Well, good news is there's only 3billion to sort through. Anyone have suggestions of what to check on? I'm lookin' for a polished lip and preferably a dark-gun-metal finish. As for the one who asked about Mugen/Spoon rims, I know they have mock-ups ALL over the net. E-bay has some good deals. Other than that, just check yahoo and type in "SlipStream Rim" and it's bound to bring up a crap load. Thanks for all the help guys, and the pix rock...

Oh yeah, one more thing on he/she who asked of the mugen's. I heard in the shop a few days back they were discontinuing the ROTA Slipstream. Didn't hear a reason, just that they were bound to become rare. However I know there's still PLENTY on the market....15's weigh in at about 11lbs. if I remember right, the ROTA's that is...

i think u might have to be english to make big wheels look good! lol. u guys need to learn a few things about lowering cars...
seriously tho 16's are better for handling or so they say. i really like the ride of mine now(with the 17's), very precise, handlings all in the shocks.
