$5300, can i afford a ls and a turbo?
is $5300 enough to get a ls and turbo it?
i want a white ls with black interior. they go for like.. 3 and change with high miles.
would i be better off rebuilding a high mileage one and swapping on a gsr head?

man, you shoot WAY too high.
take it like when i was looking for bikes. i had $3500. i found a bike for $2700 and got excited and hot headed and was ready to buy.
then i thought the price of gear, ~$700
then i thought the price of insurance, ~$1800
similarly, you have parts, labor, etc. you think too quickly. keep a large base before you dump money into something as (sometimes) unreliable as a turbo install. especially if you don't even have the car yet.

Are you looking for a g3 teg or g2.
You can piece together a dsecent kit for around 2k, but you haft to factor in all the extras. Those are what really adds up in the end.... Clutch, Gauges, exhuast, boost controller, ect......after that you have Fuel mamagementm and if you want something good/reliable this will also require $$$$$.
Make a plan before you do anything.

It's still possible though, but it'll take you a long time, very long, unless you have good luck on your side.
Just be patient and search. I was lucky, I got my '96 SE for a lil' over 2,000.

To do it all within that budget, you'll probably have to buy the car at auction, and piece together your own turbo kit. Personally, I'd go ahead and get a decent LS, and then save for the kit.
Just bought my '95 LS Special Edition for $4995, which is definately the cheapest dc2 integra i've been able to find....but good luck finding an integra turbo kit for under 3k.

VTEC is overrated, for the price of a vtec(gsr) swap for only 30 to 40 more hp, you can get an excellent turbo kit that will give you 100 hp with excellent torque to boot. You have the right idea of going LS/turbo, but you will be very hard pressed to do it all for $5300. I just got my friend into a mint 110,000 miles single owner, adult driven 94 DC for $4100. Check http://www.autotrader.com and http://www.cars.com for 94-96 integras in the $3k to $6k range. I had another friend who picked up a 95 ls special edition with 131,000 and bad paint but no rust for $3000...........he was very lucky and the owner was very desperate to sell. you can probably source the turbo kit for as little as $1700........but you get what you pay for, and that's not including tuning it on a dyno. ........my advice take you $5300 and buy the best condition DC (94-01 teg) you can buy, and then be patient while you build up enough money to turbo it right......and even throw a block guard on the ls motor. Me and a couple of friends are going LS turbo later this year hopefully.Good luck
........oh and check out http://www.cheesefrog.com for some good LS/turbo action

Agreed in all but one point: VTEC isn't overrated.

LOL.......I knew that would be controversial. I'm not flaming VTEC, but it's not the be all, end all. If you have a b18b integra and $3000 to $3500, you will get more bang for the buck by going with the turbo over the b18c swap. I've even heard of instances where the vtec was tuned out of turbo cars cause it's not needed and made tuning more difficult..........they even make a vtec replacement kit. VTEC was a groundbreaking idea for production vehicles to pick up performance while still being somewhat economical....best of both worlds.......which is why it was later copied by many other manufacturers. So I guess saying vtec is overrated was a bit of an overstatement
........but really though.......LS/turbo
