whats the best motor or frankenstein to do to make my 92 civic si run 12's? is it possible to do it all motor or would i have to boost?
What does "best" mean? What is that? Please figure out exactly what it is you are looking for (ie. what "best" means to you) and come back when you figure that out. The question you posed is simply going to get an infinite supply of opinions, with absolutely no sense of direction for anyone.
I can think of a dozen boundary condition, or constraints off the top of my head for the question you posed. Help us, help you! Help us, help YOU!

A '92 Si H/b is alot lighter say a '94-'95 Si, not by much but it all counts.
Just a thought.
And.........There's no such thing as a "best motor" setup anyways. It boils down how you transfer the hp/tq to the ground and driver skill at the track.

In my personal opinion there isnt such a thing as a 12 sec daily driven NA honda. Im sure you can do it with your civvy chassis and a fair/alot of motor work and weight reduction(loss of ps, ac?), but then again, I like my sound deadening.
well it wont be that hard if he is planing to alter the car for track days. such as slicks pulling out the passanger seat and back seat . he could keep a/c. but if he wants to race it in complete street /daily driven form it makes it alot harder. slicks are the key.

Ive never had a car with a/c and ive never had a honda with power steering. as for gutting the interior, a 82 (*92) hb is pretty light already. mine weighed 1962lbs in every day drive form. full-interior minus spare and passenger seat.

Sure a H22 can do it, after the mounts, cross memeber, and wiring harness.
But so can a GSR motor with I/H/E and mild cams (ITRs or St.1s). Hitting high 12s dosent take alot of these days, people are hitting as high as 190 whp with mostly stock honda internals. My buddy just went 13.1 last week with a semi stock GSR motor in his eg (I/H/E/ITR Cams/22x8x13 slicks). Check out this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=768744, he hit 13.6 EG/GSR street tires with free mods
Good luck

How about daily driven 12.8 @ 110 on street tires and full exhaust... http://www.imagineengineering.com/h22a.htm
I was capable of running 7.95's in the 1/8th with a stock b18c R mods were aem CAI, spoon clutch and flywheel, Kenji chipped ECU, and FPR. 1.77 60 ft times that day, best was 1.70 the week before but was running too rich.
Cant wait for the new setup should be going in a couple of weeks.
