gets on my nerves when people recomend to use a fully synthetic oil in a car... if you dont run that from the start then put it in a car with over 30,000 miles or even over 50,000 or 100,000 you WILL have leaks... but do what you want

This isn't necessarily true with today's synthetics. When synthetics were 100% PAO, there were some leaking problems. However, new synthetic formulas have addressed the seal leaks. If you are leaking with synthetics, the problem may not be the oil, but the fact that you may have worn seals and gaskets.

Just stick with 10W-30. There's really no need to change weights.

If you live some that is warm year round then 10w-30 is just fine. But for those of us that live in places that get cold in the winter, using 5w-30 is something to consider. It may not be that big of a difference, but it gives me a little piece of mind starting my car in the winter.

I'm currently using 10W-30 Chevron Supreme after reading excellent reviews and UOA's on Bob's forum. At $0.69/qt, its cheap and a very good oil.
