Default possible noob ? about vtec

when vtec engages, is it the intake side that opens up first? like, the "primaries" are the intake side, then the "secondaries" are the exhaust side? is that right?

I dont get your question?

What do you mean? Like which valves experience vtec 1st?

Check out this article on Team-Integra. It'll explain a lot better than I can. If you don't already have an account on TI, get one.

uh oh....here come the FLAMERS!!!!

im asuming you have a gsr..

there are smaller longer "runners" in your intake manifold = high velocity at low rpms. there are also butterfly valves that open bigger shorter "runners" = high volume at high rpms.

there is nothing on your exhaust side except your header

primaries or secondaries does not apply to valves
it applies to the way the gsr intake manifold is
designed.
with a shor runner or long runner control by a butterfly this benefits how the air
flows into the head.

Should add that that's not linked to VTEC direclty. It happens at a different RPM...different system
