well crap :( the header and cat dont fit - 94 gsr w/comptech header/cat for 01 gsr
I have a 94 gsr
I was looking for a header and came across a good deal on a header for a 00-01 gsr, I asked the seller if it would fit on my 94 gsr and he said if I bought the carsound cat (he was also selling for a 00-01 gsr) it would fit.
everything shows up today and i start bolting it on... well the header and cat seems to be like 3.75" too long to bolt up to my stock catback.
heres another situation though... i have a ITR catback that im going to put on. well i took everything off and measured it and it is 4 11/16" too short. i got a piece of 2.25" stainless and i was going to have a buddy weld the extension on so it would fit.... he hasn't done this yet.
sooo... what do i do?
i'm thinking i would just add 1" onto the ITR b-pipe and then everything should bolt up... at least thats what Im thinking.

ok... change of idea here.
i went out and took some more measurements... its roughly 3.85" longer than my stock header/cat setup.... and my ITR b-pipe is roughly 4.70" shorter than my stock b-pipe... sooo
I should be able to bolt it all together and just "pull" my b-pipe closer... whatcha guys think? i can yank on the bpipe in the rubber hangers and pull the whole thing over an inch relatively easy. and it'll be "pulled" less than 1 inch.
I would just bolt it all together and go, however, my ITR b-pipe is at my buddys house where he was going to weld it... and I cant exactly get it here right now.
I think thats what i'll try and do... any comments?

It will probably rub some where under the car if you do that. My guess is at the first bend as it rounds the gas tank...

actually, i think your mesaurements are off...
if you have a 01 gsr, header, and cat, and a type r exhaust, it should all bolt up correctly......try it before you modify the stuff

i dropped the b-pipe down and took some more measurements and everything looks good right now. i also forgot to account for the doughnut gasket too, that adds some more length.
weeee!!!
i gotta go pick up my ITR b-pipe but this should be a cake job

thanks for the help everyone!
WEEEE!!!
94 gsr + 01 gsr header + 01 gsr cat + 01 type R catback =
I bought the ITR catback a month or so ago and was just waiting to have a buddy weld in the required extension and put it on one of these days.
Then I found this header and cat for a 01 gsr, I was told by a couple people that the header was longer and wouldn't bolt up, but, if i bought a cat off a 01 gsr it would bolt up fine as it was shorter. that wasn't the case
but i guess i got lucky (for once!!!) and the combination of everything together worked fine without any welding whatsoever!

after:
im happy with it, i got $450 in the complete exhaust (header/cat/catback) and the whole thing is stainless. obviously all of this stuff is used, but, its stainless and will last longer than the car anyways. it sounds just like stock from idle to redline. weeee!

it's weird to see my old header and cat in your car now! I almost feel like crying, not!
so di you use the plug I sent you?

You might need to modify your ITR exhasut for better flow. Look at the flange at the cat, the hole diameter is less than the pipe diameter!!!! Since your cat is 2.25", you need to get a dreamel tool and enlarge that hole at thet flange, otherwise you have a botleneck going from 2.25" to 1.875" to 2.25". I had to do that to the Comptech exhaust. The reason for this is because the exhasut is designed to the stock cat which is only 1.875" diameter.

remember you will need to buy an exhaust for a 00-01 GSR for everything to fit right!
OK, just so everybody knows... it must not be clear enough above
The exhaust is complete!!!
It consists of a Comptech header / Carsound cat / ITR catback
