I have a 89 honda crx and my steering lock won't engage?! i need suggestion for what should i do?! if anyone have an 89 honda crx steering column for sale let me know asap! without changing the whole steering column!

 

Yes and this is what you do...i did this 2 nights ago.

1) take out steering column.
To do this...
a) take off black column 2 piece cover (around key area).
b) look for 2 nuts and 2 bolts under steering column holding it to the car.
c) remove clamp around column, (2 screws/bolts?)
d) remove bolt from knuckle near floor of the car where column goes through firewall.

Then once you have it out find the place where key lock cylinder meets column. Pull off plasic cover and then take a dremel w/cutting wheel and make grooves in the riveted bolt (side that doesn't show threads). Then use a flathead screwdriver to remove it as if it were a screw.

Find another column and do the same and swap cylinders. I have an extra cylinder that locks if you want it but no key for it.

Any questions just ask i did this fast because i have to leave work now!
