removing the sound deaneding tar.
ive check the archives and found a great thread on how to remove it. now my question is... im getting my car painted inside and out, do you guys think its better to take out the material? and will there be alot of noise?
I took mine out, all i did was hit it w/ a rubber mallot...my car is old enough that the tar is very brittle, if its not brittle enough, try getting it very cold then a chizel and a rubber mallot.......
hope that helps
and its not that much noisier.

if ur gettin it painted then yea...ive taken out my trunk sound deadening meterial and its not bad at all..i like it...i took a flathead screwdriver and a hammer..came out in about 10-15 mins
You can make things real easy by buying some dry ice, and then spreading it around over the sound deadening material. Naturally it won't get all of it, but it will get the vast majority of it.

Exactly. And it saves you from having to chisel it all out.

Weight. All of the sound deadening material is good for well over 20 lbs.

If you're going to paint the interior of the car, i would personally get rid of the sound deadening tar. Here's my How-To: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=525936

Damn man, 20 hours? That looks sick after you get all that tar off but I'd go crazy after hour 2.

To give people an idea how much louder it is, the Type R's do not have any sound deadening in them, and they are not that much louder.
