Default WHAT CAMS FOR TYPE-S?

What cams work best for type-s? toda spec a, spec b, spec c, or spec n2 cams. I have i/h/e and am about to order type- r intake manifold, and my next mod is going to be cams and trying to get some feedback before i buy any.

It’s always hard to answer what is the “best” without knowing what you’re going to be doing with the car. However, since there isn’t much choice out there, since the K-Series is so knew, you really only have two choices for cams : Toda or ITR.

The following assumes you have CAI, Race Header, and Exhuast.

ITR:
ITR cams w/ Hondata will provide very good gains at a very reasonable cost. A benefit to these cams is not needing to upgrade your valvetrain and maintaining Honda reliability. You can do a search for dynos and reviews of this setup on http://www.clubrsx.com. I believe there is a dyno sticky posted with links to threads and dynos in the Performance or Naturally Aspirated forums—I forget.

Toda:
You should divide the Toda cams into two groups. The first group is the Spec A and N2 cams while the second group consists of Spec B, C, and VTEC . The reason I divide the two is because the former does not require high compression pistons while the latter does.

Spec A—these are fine but are pretty much replaced by the N2 which make more power.

N2—You can get the engine kit which includes the cams, springs, and a reflash and experience really good gains. Again, search on clubrsx (there is also a dyno sheet on Toda’s site). This is a good option if you just want to “plug n play” so to speak. A better option would be to get the cams and valve springs with the programmable Hondata and then tune it to your car/mods.

B, C, Killer Cams:

I haven’t heard much about these yet. I believe that these require much higher compression than stock to be effective. The VTEC Killer cams aren’t really a good option for a street car, IMHO.

Other manufacturers:

I’m eagerly anticipating Skunk2s cams release. Their Stage II B series cams rock, they woke my LS/VTEC up!!!

Once more cam choices come out—just keep in mind what the car will be used for. If you want a street car, you’re probably going to want a good amount of midrange and a decent idle (ITR or N2). If you want an all out track or drag car—you’ll want power in different places and won’t be too concerned about idle.

I hope this helps…also, don’t be afraid to SEARCH!!!

If you are going to spend alot of money for toda. Get the N2 kit. that makes much more midrange power. I have seen videos of the Spec As and they make good power. I'm waiting to see the N2 vids out there.
