having some problems with a set of ctr pistons i bought
i bought a set of ctr pistons to put in my 95 gsr and i went to way them out and i ended up having two pairs at different weights. one set is within 0.2 of a gram and the other pair is within 0.3 of a gram. however the two pairs are 3 grams apart. i just got my stock gsr pistons removed from my rods and weighed them out. all across they were within 0.3 of a gram with 130k miles on them. i then decided to see how much 3 grams off a piston is and i ended up just breaking off one of the bottom skirts to find out that it only removed a gram from the piston. no way can these new ctr pistons be balanced. also one pair says hf1 on the side by the wrist pin and the other pair says hf2. what did these guys sell me? anyone know the difference between hf1 and hf2? 3 grams off seems like way to much to be reving to 9400 rpm in the future.
well the ctr pistons are pretty damn heavy , u can have a machine shop or yourself remove some material to get it within spec and have no negative effects
i got a full set of hf2 ctr pistons today and they were all within a half a gram in weight. very happy. but there is for sure a 3 gram difference between hfi and hf2. i just ground out the notch for my oil line as well so i get to take em down to the machine shop tommorow finally. the blocks been sitting there over a week waiting for the right pistons.
