Heres what happens...after driving for a while every now and then my front drivers wheel will vibrate as if I was riding on a totally flat tire..but if I stop the car it won't do it anymore. Next, after a long drive somewhere my brake pedal will go damn near to the floor and will pull all the way to the right, and the brakes aren't responsive hardly at all. I don't know if these problems are related or if I have a brake problem and a wheel bearing going out..not sure. Any suggestions?

 

the brake pedal part is your master brake cylinder. the flat tire related thing im not too sure.

 

I just recently replaced my master cylinder because the brakes were spongy. They would respond, but if I was at a light or something they would fall to the floor. It sounds like yours is a little worse, you should take the time to change it out. Autozone sells MC's or you can get the acura one... it's all up to you just make sure you get a new reservoir w/ the MC, 'cuz autozone neva gave me one.... hope that helps...

 

It could be a sticking front driver side caliper. If one doesn't release all the way it will heat up and in turn heat up the brake fluid to the point where it will boil and then your brakes won't work so well, and your pedal will sink to the floor. This would normally make you think your master cylinder is on the way out, but from what you describe it wouldn't make sense. If it were the master cylinder both wheels would be doing it.

Leak Test
1. depress the brake pedal with the engine running, then stop the engine. if the pedal height does not vary while depressed for 30 seconds, the vacuum booster is OK. if the pedal rises, the booster is faulty.

2. with the engine stopped, depress the brake pedal several times using the normal pressure. when the pedal is first depressed, it should be low. on consecutive applications, pedal height should gradually rise. if the pedal position does not vary, check the booster check valve.

Check Valve Test
1. disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose at the booster.

2. start the engine and let it idle. there should be a vacuum available. if no vacuum is available, the check valve is not working properly. replace the check valve and retest."</TD></TR></TABLE>
