Default Burning smell when heat is on and in "fresh air" mode

Okay, the ride is a 93 accord. The problem: whenever I turn on the heater and it's in fresh air mode, there's a burnt oil smell coming out. It's most noticable when I'm stopped in idle. The thing is it only has the smell after I've ran the rpm's past 3k.
My brother said that it would be the oil pressure switch which I just recently replaced. it still smells though. I know it's not the valve cover gasket cause I just recently replaced it. Does anyone think that I could have forgotten something when I replaced the valve cover?
Come to think of it, the smell didn't start until I replaced the valve cover gasket (which was leaking at the time, don't leak now). Also, There was a bit of oil on one of the spark plugs the last time I changed them (about 3k miles ago). Does any of this info help to find the solution? Please help!!! i"m Suffocating in my car!!!

Well, you got some burning oil getting sucked into the car... Pop open the hood when the car is running and smell around... Is your motor covered in oil...

as for your sparkplug, describe what you saw on the sparkplug

if you had oil on your spark plug then you are burning oil. if you are burning oil and you smell burnt oil in the car than you might have an exhaust leak.

well, when i checked the spark plugs, only two out of the four plugs had oil on them. It looked like fresh oil too! The oil was located around the threads as well as the spark plug wire. I could tell that some oil got to the gap of the plug and was burned because there was a carbon buildup. I just checked my new plugs today and they have oil on them too. there's also a carbon buildup from burnt oil already on the new plugs. any ideas?

your piston rings might be going out.

I've only had two things cause the problem you're having:

1. leaking valve cover gasket. I know you said you just replaced it, but did it seal good? If there's oil on the plug wires where the slip onto the plug, the o-rings(at least two of them) obviously didn't seal. You know the valve cover gasket is actually 5 pieces, right? (the main gasket, and the 4 spark plug tube o-rings.) To check for leaks around the rest of the valve cover, clean and dry where the valve cover meets the head, then dust the joint with some type of white powder (talcum, flour, powderd sugar, corn starch, cocaine, etc...). Run the engine and look for the powder to become oil-soaked. Due to the F22A being tilted back, the leaking oil will run down the back of the block and drip and burn on the downpipe, causing the smell you describe.

2. leaking oil pressure sensor, on the back of the block. I was pretty surprised to find this one. it was leaking pretty good too. Did you use teflon tape on the threads when installing the new sensor? I know some people say not to, but I always do. Gives me that warm & fuzzy...

I seriously doubt if your rings are shot. If you're burning oil internally, there's easier ways to diagnose it: Smoke out the tailpipe. Leakdown and compression. Oil consumption over a given period...

Yea I had two out of 4 plugs wet with oil, now it's 3. I think it's the spark plug tube o-rings. Apparently you have to take off valve cover and rocker assy to get to them, so I've been told. I have to look this up in the manual. I about all seals & gaskets for under valve cover except these dang o-rings cuz I didn't want to have to go that far...but I better do it right...also have new NGK plugs on stand-by.

the only thing you have to remove is the valve cover. turn it upside down and look at the 4 round channels(tubes) that the plugs go down through. The rubber o-rings are pushed into the recesses around these tubes. they're hard to miss. And also, your new valve cover gasket should have came with these included. See here in the center:

Chances are these leaking o-rings are not what's causing your smell. although I guess it's possible...

You got it man! It turns out that when I replaced the valve cover gasket, i didn't get the new gaskets for the spark plugs o-rings. I just repalced it and now everything smells minty fresh... well except for my DAMDED gym socks! Thanks nuc79.

no problem. glad it turned out to be something simple. it usually is. that's why I hate it when inexperienced people come on here and say sh*t like "piston rings" and make one line responses. FYI, i very seldom make one-line responses. And if you ever have anymore CB7 questions, feel free to PM me.
