I know that every time I come in this forum there are TONS of questions being asked that have been answered time and time and time again. I don't know if this has come up before but I know in the prelude forum they have a link page or something of that effect of FAQ. Accord forum people would you like that in here? I know people should be reading the first post and searching, but in HOPES that this might work....thoughts?

I know but obviously people aren't looking on how to do it or maybe there would be less repost if there was a FAQ or links thread that was stickied......

I think that would be ok but there are so many questions that people ask that it would be hard to answer all of them. Searching is Key. Maybe it is a good idea to just list the things that are asked alot just so people know what not too ask. I think it should be locked as soon as it is made so that is does not get cluttered.

 

searching will never truly catch on with newbs in some situations, because people feel that their situation is UNIQUE, or that for some reason its quicker to wait for someone to post than it is to do a quick search on the topic......id say a FAQ with links would be awesome......id also vouch for a DIY project sticky thread / instalation guide to COMMON things..........just my $.02

yea.....online instalation guides are soo much better than anything u can pring out.....my short shifter install guide was online pspectuning.com (it kicks *** yall) and it was SO easy to follow......AEM makes shitty directions as do most manufacturers who simply print **** out and dont put guides online

people also stop searching because they get discouraged REALLY quickly.....also, why dont we take the sticky from gdd on searching and put it here too??

I would love a DIY section or project section, installed guides etc....I wouldn't mind a current recall list but then again people can go to honda.com to find that stuff out and it would be kinda a pain to update

 

someone report this thread (sum1 with losa posts and an upstanding history...lol) to a mod to make sure they get the idea passed onto them ASAP.....id be willing to contribute the few things i know about install/diy projects

I think a lot of people would be willing to do it....I don't know how many "write-ups" there are out there, but IMO this is a great idea.

 

I would suggest an FAQ of topics pointing to links. Topic should be very specific and broken down by major headings like ENGINE, TRANNY SUSPENSION ELECTRICAL etc. A moderator or admin type or a person with too much time on their hands could take inputs from posters and build that FAQ so it is clean and not full of junk. Since I am new to HONDA, I will not suggest breaking such an FAQ down by generation.

Hmmmm.... So it has to be someone with lots of posts not matter how long they have been here? How odd. I do think this would be good but it is not going to stop all of the members from asking the same questions over and over again like all the questions pertaining to an h22 swap, which can be answered by searching.

I think that it would definately slow down the number of Reposts..

and as far as number of posts having anything to do with it..I think it should just be who knows their stuff on the subject and being honest..I admit I dont know as much as most about turboing a F22 but I know more than you about how air ride works..I think that it should be a team effort no competion..we are all here to help each other out ..

 

I agree....I think there will be situations where if your answer has not been covered then definitely post and I also agree that certain people will know more about certain things. I know some folks on here know TONS about tuning a NA engine and don't really know much about FI (on an accord that is). I realize there is a FI and NA forum but really its about 90% civics and tegs and hardly any love for the accord. I think it would be cool if you entered the thread and had a list of things like suspension, NA, FI, swaps etc and once you click on those then links are provided. I am just floating this idea out to EVERYONE and input is always appreciated .

In theory it should cut down on reposts and hope that people will read it first as a supplement to searching (I have to be honest sometimes the search function isn't as user friendly as I would like it) but not depleting the search function at all. I definitely like comments and things you guys could see that would make the accord forum a better place. After all we are here to learn and I for one do not know everything about cars its always been a learning process hence why I got on this site .

I know things could get better and user input will make it that way . All input is appreciated and as far as this goes for mods/admin I would like their input too .

As far as someone submitting this to the mods it doesn't necessarily have to be someone with tons of posts or long history with h-t, I think this thread will speak for a lot of members in or out of the accord forum. I could be the mediator between mods or whatever (they have been here the longest and know their **** and consider them "Yoda").

 

It'd be nice to have I guess.

All I ever see in here are ?'s regurding H22/23 swaps and suspension set ups.

But the search fuction does work better.

EXACTLY....I would like to see a write up thread or how to thread stickied as well. I mean this is supposed to be Honda-Tech but wheres all the Write ups and How To's. Yes, there are some on here and all we have to do is "SEARCH" but when its organized as a search only thing it makes it seem as if H-T is unorganized. Everything is scattered and its like being thrown into a library where none of the books are organized, its there but u have to search. H-T is only broken down into sections classifying cars but in those sections there are no more breakdown as far as getting more info on that specific car. As VDRrvr stated above in bold, there are sections covering others it but the civic's and teg's stuff usually dont apply to our Accords. I think it would be more professional if people would stop being ignorant ****'s as far as leading someone in a directionw here no help is to be found. I mean a lot of people refer others to the appereance thread and that place is dead with no information helping out the Accord. If you want to help then post, if not keep your .02 to yourself instead of trying to be a H-T bandwagoner about replying with "SEARCH NOOB". Yes things do get repetative but we must understand that they are Noob's and we were all once there.

I feel what we really want on here is something just soley dedicated to the Accord but there are already other sites that deal with ONLY the Accord. What i feel would be most beneficial is having a thread stickied to the top listing related Accord Forums and information. I know of other sites that have How To's and DIY's. http://www.accordinglydone.com is certainly one of those and http://www.Honduh.com is too but it mainly applies to the 6th gen.

Yea if its being used....and obviously due to the repetitive posts or what have you the search is not being used. I am just throwing this idea out to everyone to make the accord forum mo'betta and also cut down on the new posts that have been answered 100 times over.
