haha, yea i've been there when my drunk friend opened his car door into mine twice and left a 2" diamter dent. The estimate came out to $550. IMO, don't bother going there, they charge waay too much... they'll probably replace your whole back bumper. Keep looking around.
how much is a back bumper? I should just buy a new one.
O YA Im in ORange County Laguna Niguel so if you know of a place thats good. tell me

$500 wouldn't surprise me. Here's a relatively conservative estimate (what our body shop would likely charge).
List price on Keystone (Aftermarket) bumper = $258
Paint and supplies = $100
Labor = $150
Total = $508

you dont need a new bumper at all
they can smooth that out and re paint it for prob not more then 300 or so
what you have to ask yourself is how good of a friend is this person ??
you can look and find a used white bumper for not much $$

sell me your bumper and you get a new one... I want a 98+ rear bumper to complete my conversion.

you just need to repaint it. should cost around $200-300... or possibly cheaper @ some places. don't buy a new/old bumper from junkyard for this cuz their bumpers are prob in worse condition than yours.
i suggest you find another body shop. $500 is BS!

500 does seem like a lot, but it depends on what they want to do, like replace it with a new one, but i say jus sand it and repaint it, cost less money
how da hell did he hit u and why are u driving without a license in ur car
You should just sand it down a little bit, and then spray paint it with paint from AutoZone. My friend did that with his eclipse, and you can't even tell paint was missing.

im sure you can find someone just as good to resand/repaint that bumper for half the price.

i'd spend 5 bucks on using a little rubbing compound and some wax. it doesn't look like it took off any paint.
body shop figured you might end up having insurance take care of it and you still pay 500 deductible. that way he can charge the insurance company more and you still pay the same. well, a reputable houston shop(callaway collision) tried to do that to my dad with our 68 Olds 442. didn't work.

$500 does seem like too much for that. I would just touch up the little black spot. The rest looks like it could be buffed out.
Okay man........this is what you do. You get him to file a claim for it......make his insurance get an estimate.....let them write you a check for $500 or however much its gonna cost.....then go buy a brand new bumper for $150, pay a body shop $100 or whatever to get it painted and installed and there ya go.......you have saved yourself $200-250 and you can pocket that $$$. Good suggestion?

use some freakin touch up paint like 5 coats and wet sand it flat then buff it with compound.. the whole process of the paint drying should be like 2 days so you don't burn off the paint with the buffer..

IMHO, The cost to fix that minor blemish is not even worth it. I remember I was parked on a sandy hill parking lot (then incline was huge)...dropped the e-brake and slowly coasted into the metal front bumper of one of those construction trucks. It chipped off about a half-index card size part out of my rear bumper. I had some left-over paint that I had from my 98+ conversion in my trunk, went to work, got a paintbrush, and covered it right up.
You can totally save yourself $300-500 by just dealing with it and invest that money into some more worthwhile for you car (i.e. ITR front lip). You never really know when s*it like that happens, and since in your case, it's very minor, I'd take it in stride and keep rollin'. It's only a car man.
then again...it could just be my broke college student ***.
