LS owners and rev limit..
i know how a cai is suppose to whistle, but this sound is more like, i dont know, a high pressure spray? thats the best i can do. only thing in the engine now is a cai.
Before i did my motor swap i had AEM CAI and in high RPM's it made a hissing sound. That is normal i suppose.
well there are a few things that might cause it.
first, the CAI, tends to make a whistleing noise at a certain point. It has to do with TB position. At a particular throttle level, the air traveling past the TB valve reaches a velocity that as it passes through the TB caues the air rushing over it to produce a resonation or the whistle.
second, at higher RPM, your LS valve guide retainers ( i think thats what they are called) tend to loosen themselves. Not alot, infact very little. But once the valvetrain reaches the higher RPM levels the rapid movement of the rocker arms causes the slight movement that would result in a highspeed rattle. Nothing bad, just common.
hope that helped some
