ok, i have the head from my old motor. i took it to a shop and they ripped it apart for me and said it was rebuildable, needed 2 new exhaust valves, 2 new guides, and needed resurfaced. i said ok, i went to order the parts yesterday or day before and i started lookin at the head. the more i looked at it i started thinkin they were wrong maybe. im startin to think it needs to new intake valves etc... i say this becuase after lookin at my motor, the 2 bad spots look like they are on the intake side. im not entirely sure now because i figured the shop would know better than i would so i took a bunch of pics of the head...maybe you guys can help me figure it out. also, not sure if you can see it real well in the pic, the areas where the valves are...are they supposed to be worn like that?
this is what the guy said the intake side was noted by the piece of tape

the 2 valves missin here on the end

and one more pic of kinda the rubbin area im talkin about, along the side wall there

i should come slap you up side your head.... how do you figure that is the exhaust side? look at the side of it... you can clearly see where the vtec selanoid mounts, which is on the exhaust side, and the distributo mounts, which are on the intake side.... someone please chime in and tell these idiots they dont have any idea what they are talking about.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Bizarre »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

tape is the exhaust cam.
dc2god, dude what alternate universe do you live in where the dizzy hooks up to the exhaust cam and the vtec solenoid is connected to the intake cam.

Your an Idiot. I think you really should start doing some research before you post things that make you look like a fool. Are you sure your not blind because your contradicting yourself. Your saying the Vtec Solenoid is on the exhaust side which is correct, yet the piece is of tape is on the same side as the vtec solenoid which would make it the exhaust side. But your saying the tape is on the Intake side, which doesn't make sense because it would have to be on the other side. Unless your don't know where the vtec solenoid and the distributor go.

Its defeinetly the intake side where the tape is u can see in the secong and third pics where the cam gears would go on the right side so if ure looking at it l**** that the intake would be at the back, like it is there

There is no coolant passages that come out where the cam gears are. You are looking at the wrong side of the head thats where the distributor and selonoid go.

OMFG! I never thought this discussion would actually take place here. That tape is clearly on the exhaust side.
The Dizzy mount is the CLEAR giveaway, once you look at the holes there is no doubt, but in case there was, just look at the bolts for the intake side vs. the holes for bolts on the exhaust side...

...your a ******* idiot...vtec selanoid....attactes right next to it..
Not only do you have the spelling and writing skills of a 7th grader who has sniffed paint since kindergarten, but you're also dead wrong about something as simple as 'intake or exhaust?' on a Honda cylinder head.
FYI...that cast iron, rusty metal thing on the side of your engine IS NOT the intake manifold.

The "worn" part you are talking about is perfectly fine. All honda heads have that. Its perfectly normal. I also cant believe some of the dumbasses on this site. If you dont know the difference between the exhaust and intake side of a head why even post??
this thread is so damm funny with the NOOB posting
and fighting...
LOL
well how much did you spend on the parts you bought?
I have a complete valvetrain from a 2000 b16a2 with 10k..
includes
valves, springs, retainers.
the reason I have is cause I bought skunk2 valve train...
so might as well change the whole valve train.....
