i just bought a car that has a B18B motor swaped in but it isn't refed and i want to check the VIN number (and make sure it isn't reported stolen) before i go to try and get it refed. where would i find the vin on the engine block?

 

just above the oil pan on the front side of the block

 

it will only have that if the motor is a 96 or newer. 94-95 motors don't have vin plates

 

Did you ever find out where the VIN # was for your block? I'm having the same problem.

 

I thought VIN means Vehicle Identification Number, so it wouldnt be on the motor but on the car itself. Only ID on the motor that I know of are the numbers underneath the "motor type" stamp on the block and I don't think they match up to the car.

 

95 and up motor's have the VIN on the motor and tranny for theft reason's and because of the eas of track the motor and tranny, if it is sold
