Im changing my rotors and pads on the rear and discover that the top pin of the rear passenger caliper bracket that holds the brake pads in is stuck? Do I need to get a whole new bracket or can that pin be pulled out. I have tried to wd-40 it to death and tired to pull it out without much success. What should I do?? That was the last thing that I had to do before I completed my rotor/brake pad change.

 

I'm trying to visualize this, but I can't. No pad change I ever did on any Integra had any sort of "pins" there.

The pad just kinda snapped into place in between the caliper bracket against the rotor. Then put the caliper around it. The only thing somewhat holding it in were metal clips that kinda just fell out. They snapped into place very lightly.

 

I would just keep trying to get that damn pin out. Put the bracket in a vise and try pulling on it really hard. Once you get it out, get a new one from Acura or you might be able to get a generic one at any auto store. I'm sure the one that is in there is all pitted and rusted. Then when you put the new one in make sure you use a high quality grease. Good luck!

I think he's talking about the pin that the caliper slides on to attach itself to the bracket.

 

Yea, its the two pins that hold the caliper bracket in place. The caliper bracket being the housing for the brake pads. I hope the dealer got it in stock. Sucks that its that one bolt thats preventing me from driving.

 

that thing is a pain in the *** to get out, it was causing my rear pass. side to drag, i ended up havin to put imapct on it at a really high setting to break it lose

 

What kind of impact tool did you use?

 

bluepoint, and like a 19mm socket cocked sideways on the pin if i remember right
