Registering/inspection after stolen title
Just wondering if anyone knows how this works. If I buy my friends car back, which was stolen, and fix it, put in a new engine and everythin else it needs, before it can go back on the road, can I get the car privately inspected through a shop, or would I have to go through DMV in order to pass inspection. I know if you need to go around emissions for example, and you have a hook up you can go through a private shop, but Im wondering since the car has been stolen maybe the laws are a bit stricter and would require you to go through DMV. Just a thought anyone have an idea how this works in NJ.
first of all make sure you got all the requirements you need like paper works and everything like the title, all the air bags are still in the car and properly working. then go to CHP and check out wat you still need! and leave the rest to the chp! they are the one who'll give you a new title for you car.
