Personal comfort-Simpson Low Tops. I also am known to wear a slightly higher version.

If you don't need Nomex shoes, then get a set of wrestling shoes since they can be had for a mere $30-40. This will be my next purchase, especially after I drug the right part of my foot on the throttle while entering Summit Point's T1 at over 130. Access roads are your friend...

Piloti shoes are something to look at.
Very comfy, sneaker style.

Personally, I got a set on closeout at RacerWholesale. Cheap

Adidas Tuscany's. They look like typical 70's retro running shoes, they're comfy as hell, and they were desinged for driving use. ( i wanted something i could wear when i got out of the car after driving around on the street as well.) If you're looking for safety though, they have no nomex or anything

i've generally always worn either simpson or pyrotect shoes. the one thing i can say was that i wore a pair of no fear shoes for a while and absolutely hated them.

This might sound dumb, but please don't hate on me. Are there advantages to wearing racing shoes and also racing gloves? Is there ankle support for racing shoes?

This is the new Sparco entry level race shoe:

http://www.curpiermotorsport.c....html

The advantages are:

A. Racing Organizations mandate that you wear SFI/FIA approved shoes & gloves
B. Racing Shoes are like "Slippers" ... you will get a much better pedal feel
C. The shoes are nomex lined ... therefore, Fire Proof
D. Gloves are also nomex, and will prevent cuts, etc.
E. Gloves will also increase your grip level on the wheel

SFI shoes, for a very good price. I used them for about 1\2 a year, and they still look clean. The only problem with it is, when you heal toe with it a lot like I do the side of it gets worn down

I have low-top Simpsons. And Bondo Dan is right, you cannot walk around in them. The grip is worn off fairly good from just walking around grid. Probaly time to get some grip tape or a new set.
