Is anyone familiar with # 99=085, Recall-EGR Port Clogging Warranty Extension? Two techs have told me of a standard problem with this model and Honda has an EGR valve repair kit. The only problem I'm having is the check engine light stays on and I am concerned that the car will not pass an emission's test. Thank you in advance.

 

the J35A1 in my Odyssey had this problem. probably same design as your J30A.

I'll email you the TSB for the Oddyssey if you want me to. I had to pull the intake manifold off, and it took about an hour to do the whole job, unclogging the EGR port. I didn;t drill it out and install the teflon coated sleeve in the retrofit kit, because the dealer had to order the kit, and they're an hour away. I'll just wait another 30-40thousand miles until it clogs again, then install the kit. Also, chances are your EGR valve itself is fine. Mine was, and it has 113k on it now.

Also, about the warranty extension, it was 8yrs/80k I believe. I had 96k on the van when the EGR code showed up.

 

oh yeah, how far are you from St. Louis? Maybe I'll fix it for you next time i'm home. In fast, the only reason I got off my butt and fixed the van's EGR problem was so i did't have to drive 14 hrs to MO with a CEL.
