you should be able to get a Cobra 6000 series for like half that on E-Bay.

save your money for speeding tickets.

i went all out an bought a V1 and have since gotten 3 tickets in the last 18 months. all instant on or laser.. something no dectector can detect. a detector will only give you a false sense of security. youll get away with speeding for awile but eventually your luck wil run out.

don't bother with cobra stuff. if you want something that's actually worth the money for detecting radar, get a bel, escort, or valentine.

A radar detector doesnt make you invinceble, you still have to be a smart driver and stay on the look out.
That said, Dont buy a Cobra, they are total garbage. I had a Cobra ESD-6700 got it new for like 70 bux
off the net.. it actually worked okay for the first month or 2, but its detection got considerably worse for some
reason and would barely even pickup the cop across the street lol.
Now I have a Bel Vector 95 Signature Series and havnt had any problems since. I got it b/c it has a long warranty
and free lifetime software updates. It has saved my butt hundreds of times, even saved me from laser once. But
like the guy above said, nothing can save u from instant on. Be Smart

totally agreed. a detector is just used to augement your perception and to possibly save your butt that time when you're not paying attention. if you rely on it as your sole means of avoiding speed traps, you're going to get tickets, and a lot of them. it's not a license to speed, it's mearly one more way to detect cops.

i have the V1 and i like it alot.. just the fact that it points to the direction is good.. because i can look that way.

havent had any speeding ticket since (about.. 1.5 years)... then again.. i dont go *zoom*zoom* all the time.

i tried using one of the radar w/o the arrow pointing.. and i get so frustrated because i got acustom to the V1.

but for the price, V1 is a little steep. i'm not sure how good other radars are because i havent spent that much time w/ other radars.

good luck
