Default What engine do you rcomend for forced induction H23 or H22

Hello I am new att this forum.
I am from Sweden so you have to excuse my spelling sometimes.

I am planing to by a lude an to fit either a turbo or supercarger.

What is the strongest stock engine?
Should I go with the H23 or the H22?

Is there something I sould think about when doing this for ex.
The stock pistons and cranks are verry weak so you need to change these to forged ones.........

I have been told to go with the H23 because it is a closed deck.
I am not familiar with the term closed deck can somebody tel me what it means.

Please give me as much info as possible.

Best Regards
Jonny

Check out the Prelude Turbo thread.

If you're a 4th gen, you can only go turbo. As to what motor to use: get whatever you can get for the cheapest.

My H22A CLOSED deck:

Notice how there is not a continuous water jacket around the sleeves/pistons (that would be considered an OPEN DECK block.

OK

Someone told me that the H23 is a closed deck and the H22 is a open deck.
Since you have a closed deck H22 is the H22 made both in closed and open deck.
If so how do you tell the difference without opening the engine?

read your block codes.

H22a / H22a1 = closed deck (H22a = JDM / H22a1 = 92-96 USDM)

H22a4 = open deck (97-01 USDM)

your block code will be located to the right of the exhaust manifold.

OK

So if I understand it right the

If I can get the H22 vetec With closed deck this is better than the H23 non vetec With closed deck.

And the H22 vetec with open deck is a big no no when it comes to forced induction.

Right or wrong?

right, the h23 though is something to consider aswell for turbo because of its longer gears, low compression, and slightly more displacement. Vtec and high compression can be troublesome for tuning on boost but if enough time and money is spent in this area you can reap more.

Wrong; they share the same block, that's all. And most of the parts I pulled from my H23 had P14 stamped on them, not P13 like the H22.

I agree with ludeykrus. H23 is a long stroke engine and h22 is a shortstroke engine.
