Biggest All Motor NSX Builds
It seems most people wimp out and either SC or Turbo their NSX for big power numbers.
Personally I'm an all motor kind of guy, just wondering what are some of the highest all motor numbers that have been done. Does anyone actually sleeve and build NA NSX motors?
I'd love to see one running 12:1 CR with some big cams. Anyone have any numbers?
And yes I know it costs a lot of money and SC is easier but I don't care I like projects.

I think CompTech used to get about 400-425rwhp out of their NSX race engines back in the mid-90's. The advantage, of course, is great power but the disadvantage was that they had to rebuild the engine after each race. Eventually they went with a Vortech designed "supa" that made much more hp and needed much less frequent rebuilds.
I have no idea what TODA or the JGTC 300 or 500 contenders are doing.
Chris at Science of Speed is supposed to be having an ITB, cammed, and chipped NA motor package out soon for street NSXs.

who makes the cams?
Cause I can make my own ITBs and use an AEM EMS....

People go with SC or turbo because it's simply easier and cheaper. Rebuilding NSX engine is no cheap task. Anyway, as far as cams go,
comptech is the only one that's actively selling one for now, but they now list them as race-only parts meaning if it breaks your engine, they won't warranty it. I've heard their setup is good for 30-40hp given you have header/exhaust.
I also believe FactorX did a custom re-ground(?) cam for their 3.3L NA customer but I'm not sure if they market those.
Toda seems close to marketing theirs as they now list 3 specs.
Science of speed is supposedly working on one as Ponyboy says, but how knows where they are with their stuff. They said they were ready to show us something months ago but no info to this date.
So I think this is about it in U.S.A.

funny you ask. I just got a Japanese edition Car and Driver and they made a comment how the JGTC 500 class NSX was always short on engine power, and in the near future, they have a redesigned version that will "enter like a typhoon". It mentioned a turbo engine, but they were speculating. It should be interesting.

i have a dvd i forget whats the name of it... but it featured top end team of japan. they are all nsxs. and the highest n/a hp nsx was rated at 380whp. and i think it was a 3.0L and not the 3.2L. (of course probably displaced) it was rocking itb's and 6spd sequential. sick sound coming from it.
the jgtc i 've heard rumors that it'll be going turbo instead of sc. putting high hp numbers. hope to see the nsx win some jgtc's this season.

That's AWESOME news! Do you have a link?
Knightie, now you have NO reason not to root for the JGTC NSX.
But I'm sure you'll find a way.

When I visited the huge Toyota showroom last summer in Tokyo, Japan last year I was handed newsletter on the JGTC 500 and 300 races. It contained the basic info on all of the drivers of every car and the engine that it used. The NSXs use a 3.5L V6 and it is NA...The Nissans use a 3 liter twin turbo and toyotas use a 5.3 liter V8... I'm suprised to see the NSXs hold their ground so well against twin turbos and huge displacement V8 engines in the GT-500 race. I need to get a scanner so I can scan that page in.

the nsx's have enuf power to weight ratio to hold against those 2 cars. but the raw power the supra and gt-r's have is just too much for the nsx... but the new nsx should do well in jgtc -500

Do the JDM NSX's have higher compression pistons than the USDM ones by chance? The H22A motor has .6 more compression than the USDM H22A1 or A4 motors, and many other Honda motors have this increase in compression when in JDM fashion.
