I travel a lot for my job so I'm actually in Alaska right now. Today I gave my Mom a call to see how things were going and she tells me my GS-R had gotten stolen from in front of our house. I had planned to have it ready for the WDCR MARRS I race on Apr 24th but here I am now without a car. Luckily I had taken my racing gear (suit, helmet, shoes, etc.) before I left for AK but suffice it to say its still a big hit. Its been gone since February 25th so I'm pretty sure its been chopped up by now.
Insurance said they'll cover the cost of the balance of my loan minus the deductible so financially I'm not too bad off but I can't but to feel the pain of loss. I had a lot of memories with that car, from my first driving school at Jefferson Circuit riding with **** in the instructor seat to the last time I drove it which was February 22nd returning from VIR it was a great car. It will be missed
Still, I don't plan to let this setback stand in the way of racing plans. I hope I can still make the season opener anyway.

Sorry to hear abou that. Did you lose much in terms of modifications?
Well, like the Bob Marley tune says, what goes around comes around. They'll get theirs.
Any ideas on a new car?

That really sucks that people do stuff like that, but that is really cool that you're having such a positive attitude about it!!!! No sense letting the past get you down, pick up and move on!

Luckily I hand't started putting stuff in the car so I didn't lose anymore than just the car and some CD's.
I really don't know what I want to do racecar wise but I'll probably stick with Showroom Stock. I could always go for a built racecar too but I haven't really calculated where that will put me budget-wise since I was not evaluating that possibility until pretty much last night.
What's kind of stupid is that car had 157K miles on it. The engine still had good compression but it seems kind of silly for an engine thief to take a car with that kind of mileage. Too bad the engine was in such good shape, then I could've hoped that it'd blow up in some riceboy's hatchcrap.

On the bright side, maybe this is the racing gods' way of telling you that you didn't want to race something that the bank owns part of. Just looking for silver linings...

The balance of the loan!?!? Only the balance? What about paying for what the car was worth (which is what you'd get if someone sideswiped you on the highway and the car was totalled). That really sucks, because even if you'd paid for the balance of the loan yourself, you'd still have the trade in value of the car to put against buying something else. Now you're stuck with no loan, even less the deductible, and no car value to trade in for, either. I hate to say it, man, but you're getting screwed!

Unless he just got the car and the amount he's paid so far barely covers the deductible.

Well, the way I see it, I doubt I could've gotten much for the car if I sold it since it had about 157K miles on it and bad paint. It probably would've covered the cost of the loan plus a little extra but thats a stretch and it would've taken me time to sell it.
I think the thing thats lucky is that I did still have insurance on it. I had planned to pay it off in the next couple of months but had I done that I would've cancelled the insurance and I know I would not have bought racecar insurance. The car would've been stolen and I would've been out of the money I used to pay it off. Suffice it to say I will be purchasing racecar insurance for the next racecar...

damn, hate it when this stuff happens local. I think I had seen it outside on the street a week or 2 ago too while I was going to work. No respect!

Really sorry to hear that Gerald.
I guess you can't buy my AP rollcage right now. Actually I'm glad that you didn't buy it or you would end up loosing more.
Good luck on your new race car!
