how 2 convince parents into engine swap
so i want an engine swap, got a stock del sol s, want to swap b16a or b18c, but i know my parents won't let me, well my dad. but that's all it takes. it's got 111K miles on it, any ideas on how to convice him to let me get it. i got the money...
juice the **** out of ur motor and when it gives.... take it out b4 ur parent's mech looks at it and be like " i dunno how this happened" **** i might as well improve by gettin a better motor....."
or do what i did just save ur god damn money and swap it w/o them knowing..... went abuot 8 months b4 my moms knew what happened and about a year b4 she knew i went through my second motor because i blew up the swap too

Just try to tell them it's your money, your interests, and it's what you really want to do. Afterall, better the money spent on an engine than on drugs, I always say. Plus it's a great learning experience (if you plan to do the swap yourself.) Who are your parents to deny you mechanical knowledge? You can't tell me your parents wouldn't be proud if they were like "Yeah, my son swapped an engine out of his car by himself."
Or you can always hold your mom for ransom. That oughtta make Dad think twice!

that might make the dad be like "ok sure go ahead thanks to kidnapping her and keep her"

when i was 16 (now 25)...i blew my CX motor in my old hatch so my parents had no choice but to get me a new motor...lol...this was back in '94. we paid $1200 parts/labor for a D16Z6 swap with 40k and dc header, intake and a cam gear that it already had. my car already had an exhaust. the motor came out of kazu yamaguchi's car...he was from Speedline in hawaii and was featured in Turbo Magazine back then.

thats how my one freind i kno got a motor he wanted to race so he did wit the sohc juicin a 100 shot knew it was gonna blow up and it did lolz. parents bought him a gsr and juiced that one too but with fuel management and the correct parts.
well its good that your not funded by mommy and daddy. i have a motor in my car and my parents dont know jack about it. but if anything goes wrong u'd better make sure you got extra money to save ur ***. i made sure i had some extra cash bcuz some stuff did go wrong and needed to be replaced. if your gonna do a swap make sure you take it to a shop thats gonna do a good job in a considerable amount of time. i just told my parents that my car was being serviced at my friends shop. plan the swap well and have extra cash and then you got a motor swap. stealth mode it.
just get a 3-9 job work everyday save up then one night say ur gonna sleep over at a friends house one night get the motor swaped and come home with a new motor simple and done
beat the **** outta your motor...
tell your parents how the car feels rough, and you think its gunna die any day now.
tell them you dont think its safe to drive. Inform them that the cost to fix the
motor would be expensive. When you could get a low milage, more reliable,
and faster
motor for a lil extra. Back when i first got my car in 2000, I was
trying to figure out a good excuse to get a swap in. So i just came out and told my
parents my motor sux and im going to get a new one. and they didnt even give a
****. So run it past your parents. Who knows they might not even give a **** either.

Yeah i know how it feels to want something, and your parents won't let you because they think it's a waste of money or something. i'm in the same situation right now. good topic for me lol.
anyway, i wouldn't blow up the motor because you can sell it. convince your parents that you can buy a better motor for a reasonable price like someone stated...and once you buy it you will sell the old engine. dunno if it'll work but good luck!

my parents didn't know i had a swap for a while either. when i found out that they were proud for all the "mechanical abilities".... i fessed up. i'm 17 now and did this a few months ago...
they left for two weeks for vacation, perfect timing!
... if being honest and straightforward with them doesn't work, you're eventually going to have to tell them that the motor you have sucks... then just blow it up
being young has a few disadvantages, but let them know what your interests are, and once they find out that its not drugs.... you're good to go!
btw, make sure you know HOW to do the swap if you get to go through it

If your are paying for it, just get the engine from a reliable place, like hondamotorsonline.com, and tell them its got a warrenty, low miles, and that you really want it
I didn't realize there were so many people on here that live with their parents.
Why blow it up? Just diconnect something then convince them that it is blewn and sell the parts.
