Default 60K Service Pricing?

I just called 3 dealers in my area and these are the prices i got for the 60k mile service.

Wayne Acura $739
Park Ave Acura $389.....something tells me this lady gave me the wrong price
Ramsey Acura $625

Are these the prices to expect?....and yes I know I could do it myself for way cheaper but I do not have the time, Knowlege, or good enough tools to do it myself.

You already called the dealerships and they gave you the costs for the 60K service. Are you going to try and haggle with them to lower the price?

Heres a cookie.

Gee. I guess what goes around comes around.

If you pay $700 for the dealership to do that, then you're getting bent over..

no need for a timing belt that early anyhow..

I would say it's not really going to help your resale value.. it might, but it probably doesn't matter..

my point was more that even if you're not going to do it yourself, then a non-stealership mechanic would probably do the stuff much cheaper.. hence, you getting bent over by the dealership.. $700 is a lot..

i don't eat cookies. but thanks.

You think having the dealership perform this service will help increase the resale value of your car? Do you know of a reliable mechanic? Too bad "Harris Auto" is located in NC. He could give you a better price and do a top notch job..

Would you buy a car from a guy who had a stack of dealer service reciepts for all scheduled maintenance and service or a guy who says "yeah i replaced all that" ?

I see your point. I would look for maintenance paperwork from a qualified mechanic/shop. Besides the timing belt and valve adj., the tune-up; plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter is easy to do yourself..

What if he could back it up with receipts for all the parts? If not I'll agree with you , rather buy a car with a full and complete service history.

exactly.. maintenance history is maintenance history.. doesn't have to be from the dealer, but receipts from other shops or parts places has always been sufficient for me..

1.) You called various dealerships.
2.) They gave you various prices.
3.) 2 gave you the appoximate average while the third one seemed out of place as you mentioned.

Do you need Captain Obvious to pay you a visit?

Call the dealers back and ask for a detailed list of their service. I can understand the ~$100 difference in prices, but not the half-price one. They're not all using the same list.

Get the service item, labor amount, and flat labor rate from each dealer and compare lists. Ask if there are any coupons or spiffs on particular services (such as 10% off belt replacement, etc).

Valve adjustments are labor-intensive, as is a timing belt replacement (I think). Water pumps are cheap - get it replaced while they're in there anyway.

What I'm saying is... This person came onto this Type R board to ask a question. Not to get hated on. There is no reason to say "search noob" or "do you want a cookie." I think you guys need to grow up and quit acting so cool and thinking highly of yourselves. My advice to you guys is to answer his questions instead of telling him to search because obviously you could of just answered his question instead of being a homosexual.

What the hell does"being homosexual" have to do with anything?

This is a perfect example right here. And your poor advice post "Get aftermarket... " in this thread here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=789225 was any better?

It is my ADVICE.

I think aftermarket is the way to go for some of the stuff instead of spending the same amount of money OE. Thats my opinion. Am I wrong?

How so?

Explain.
