Wierd ECU problem...Anyone ever heard of this!?
Alright, I've never heard of this happening to anyone else. Not even from Honda so maybe someone on here can help me out...
I have an '02 Si, and since this is an ECU problem, i think the lowering springs, wheels and cosmetic mods are irrelevant.. I DO, however, have a stereo installed..a 12" sub with a 1000 watt amp and JVC headunit...now for the problem..
The car ran fine for the first year or so of all kinds of driving but, after a while the car would suddenly lose all power...the green immobilizer light would flash, the check engine light would flash, and a few others...the tach would fall to 0 and all electronics would stay on...then quickly the car would turn itself back on, and the car runs fine...wierd?
Well, later it starts getting worse....the car would actually die, and to restart the car, the key would have to be taken out and then try restarting it may or may not start right back up. After the car sat for a while, it would start fine and run for a while, could be a minute, or a week.
FINALLY, the car did it and wouldn't start back at all, so it was taken to the honda dealer for the 2nd time, becuase the first, they could not duplicate my problem and was sent home as nothing being wrong...the 2nd time the honda tech got the same thing, and diagnosed the ECU bad..
The car has run fine for a few months now, until today, it dies 4 times in about 5 hours! Does anyone know what the hell is wrong with this or know of this happening to anyone else? or have any idea?

sounds like a bad immobilizer or key... try using your other key and see if the problem goes away.
interesting problem. i'll check the helms...

i had a similiar problem when i installed a system in my old grand am
the amp was eatin up too much juice so the alternator went out
check that and see if thats it

Well, a Honda dearler in St. Louis stopped after the new ECU was installed, so there could be more to the problem. I unhooked the stereo from the battery until i have time to pull out the whole thing, and im gonna try the other key for a while. Id still like to know if anyone else has had the problem though
It sounds similar to an ignition switch complaint. The accords, some civics were recalled for the same simptoms, pre 2000 models. Start the car, and jiggle the key while the engine is running, and see if that duplicates the problem.
