Can you resurface the friction ring on a Clutchmasters flywheel?
You can get a replacement for 100$, vs a 30-50 dollar resufacing. I would (and am) buying a replacement just for peace of mind

Actually, you should even be able to find the replacement for quite a bit less than $100, making the cost difference between a traditional resurfacing and a brand-new surface more or less negligible.

I talked to clutchmasters, they said that you can take 3 thousandths off safely, but not more than that. That is enough to get the glaze off the friction ring

I wouldn't recommend it. If you run an indicator on a new insert you will notice that it is not flat. It has high spots between the bolts. These high spots flatten out a bit with the load of the clutch. They can get much higher when the insert is overheated and warps. If you grind the surface flat, the places between the bolts become low spots (under clutch load), instead of high spots... How about a economical solid chrome-moly XACT flywheel? Sorry, shameless plug!
