People with 92-93 Preludes: Cupholder question
Hey guys, I am curious what your resolution to the no cupholder problem in these years Ludes??
I am not looking to change out my center console either. I am looking for quick fixes.
Did anyone come up with a cleaver solution??
I know you can buy them from Pep Boys, etc. I was looking to see if anyone had a cool idea that looks good too.
Thanks

i hate putting things inbetween my legs when im driving, so i put something between the rear of the front passenger seat and the front of the rear passenger seat and if you move the seat back it makes a cup holder, ive never had any problems with that spilling, maybe if your autoxing with a cup back there it might fall..

works great...you can move the seat slightly back for small drinks and slightly foward for larger drinks.

The center console was changed in the 94... not 96.

crotch cupholder, although i prefer to have bottles so i can just leave it in the passenger seat. just don't open it for a while if you have to slam on brakes.
i've also had a small cooler sitting in the passenger foot before with a cupholder top. just slide the passenger seat forward until the cooler is snug.

w3rd, if you smoke cigarette's, just stick them in between your can of
pop and the pass seat.
or use a roll duct tape in the same place and put your drink in the middle of it

For bottles and cans I use the space between the door and the seat, right in front of the lever to lean the seat forward.
I also have a coffee mug that has a rubber bottom and is shaped like a fat bell. It's non-slip, and fits well beside the tweeter. I tilt my steering wheel up just a bit to make a corner for it to hit if it tries to slide right. But the only time it ever slides is when it's empty and I'm taking a hard left turn.

i agree with jdogg, between teh e-brake handle and the passenger seat, i also do the thing between the passenger and rear seat, the first one though, be sure to hold the cup when you turn. hope that helps. peace.

Thanks for all the replies. It has helped greatly.
Has anyone modded the little change tray right in front of the center storage compartment. All it really needs is a support bracket and it would work very nicely.
Any ideas about this??

I just changed over to a 93 to get rid of that long box, so I don't even have the little change holder anymore!!
But, look up in emo1's message. The last pic is the VW thing. All you would need is those two adjustable arms to go around the cup, and somehow mount those at the top of the changeholder hole. I would think that could work, but as far as fabricating it?.... don't have a clue.

Try buying the OE armrest that bolts up in two minutes to the stock 93 console instead of buying and entire center unit and having to fabricate.
I've got it in my car. Room for two cups and no spilling on my crotch.

i have one, but i wanna keep it w/ my old 93 console....but yea, those cup holders in the armrest seem to tend to brake easily....
mine isn't broken, but i know others that are.
You might be able to buy the assembly on like
hondaautomotiveparts.com or something
then just bolt it into your armrest

my 93 came with cup holders in the arm rest...they are ok, but tend to be a little wobly.....i know they have a tendency to brake, mine is pretty intact. I would sell it cause i have a 95 console now, but i wanna keep my OEM parts...
