In the market for a 94+ GSR... advice?
I think it's time I left my CRX roots and got a 4 seater. Im going to a commuter college next year so I'm gonna be in my car a lot. I would love to keep my crx for weekends but I dont think it will cut it 24/7. So, I am leaning towards getting a 94+ gsr.
Anything I should know about problems with certain years? What are high mileage gsr's like... anything I should be aware of? Right now I'm looking at a black 94 gsr 2 door... 2 owners, 153k miles. Timing belt, water pump, etc done at 120k. He is asking $4k.
Also found a 96 gsr listed... power everything, leather, 87k miles for $5300.
Im really looking for guidance because I dont have any experience with integras.
Thanks a lot!

I have 164,000 on my GS-R, and I still dynoed at 137 whp which is about par with a brand new stock GS-R. So how are high mileage Gs-Rs ? Still ready to give you a kick in the *** when the ricer in the next lane is revving.
As far as integras go though, if possible, try to find a 94-95 GS-R, because OBD-1 takes to modifications better than OBD-2 (96-up ). When you are looking for a used one. make sure all of the regular maintenance was kept up with(i.e. fuel filter, timing belt, spark plugs, wires). Listen to the idle and make sure it is nice and steady. Take it for a spin on the highway and bring it up to 8100 rpms to see if it responds healthy at that motor speed. Finally, try to by it from an old guy, or an even older lady, stay away from teggies driven by young guys like the ourselves

Well the guy with the 94 gsr for $4k doesnt sound like a kid... but a spirited middle aged guy I would say. Car is pretty much stock exect he mentioned AEM cai... I say he is spirited because he has a new s2000 waiting for him at the dealer and thats why he is getting rid of the gsr.
So is there a difference betweent he years? I thought they were identical 94-97... any small things?

okay thanks guys... i think im gonna check out that 94. I thought maybe it was a bad idea to get a 94, cause it was the first year the new style was made... but then again i drive an 88 crx... and its in my opinion the best year out of 88-91
Gee... Im so use to driving an 88... 16 years old! My car look brand new... 94 sounds so new in comparison but its still 10 years old

High mileage GSR's? Is there such a thing? What do you consider high mileage? Just cause a cavalier blows up at 80k doesnt mean another car will. There is a kid in my town with a 94 GSR with almost 200k that dyno'd 150 something with an I/H/E!
bought my 94' 4dr gsr w/ 141k miles on it...sweet sweet ride, i like it more than my turbo'd 200sx just cause four doors are sweet. get a 4dr

some 94 GSRs did come with cloth interiors. But most are leather.
LS -> abs, electrical moon/sun roof, power locks
GS -> (same as above)
RS -> no abs, no moon/sun roof, no power locks
GSR -> and LS with a b18c1 and leather (95% of the time)

Im finding only like 50 percent of the GSRs I am finding have leather... especially the 94s.
And also... what is different between the GSR and Type R besides the b18c5 and all the stuff (seats, floormats, etc etc) badged Type R? I dont see why the Type R gets its on forum and talked about like its a super car.

The GSRs have alloy rims (as well as the SE's) and color matched trim from what I've seen. The Type R isn't just diff because of the engine and aethetic stuff. The tranny has a closer ratio with a LSD, different suspension (sway bars, LCA's, springs, strut tower bars, etc.), no moonroof, seats, steering wheel, brakes, rims, and so on.

My '94 made 142hp at the wheels with bad plugs and rotted wires... just make sure you get one that's been well taken care of. "High mileage" is just a number
