Default Prelude '98 oil consumption

It seems my lude is consuming oil at 0.7l/1000 km rate.
I use Castrol RS oil and have 80k miles on engine, which is 2.2VTI(185 hp).
Is it posiblle that piston rings are shot? IT seems too high consumption even for that as I would expect lot of smoke, but there isn't.

Thx

Sounds like something is definetely wrong. Run the motor with the hose going from the vavle cover to the intake open... if you see white smoke coming from here during idle then usually it is your rings/ringlands going bad.

If you drive REALLY hard and constantly stay in vtec during these 624 miles, it might be normal. It depends how you drive. You may also want to jack your car up and inspect for leaks. The Cam seal would ge a good place to start.

Have you checked the rubber cap on the left side of the engine up from the distributor? Those are notorious for breaking down and leaking. My leak was minor, it didnt leave oil on the ground, it just seemed to stain the are surrounding it. After i replaced it the oil consumption has gone away. Give it a look.
