Belts Squeeking/clicking
on my 99 integra gsr..the belts appear to be squeeking and clicking..you can hear it putting your ear up to the left front wheel area..then when i popped my hood i narrowed it to the belts..does that mean its about to snap soon? i have a 99 integra and its recommended to be changed at 90k. im at 72..could it be that its making noise because its loose? i just need to tighten it??
generally if it makes the squealing noise when you first startup the car its the alternator belt, if it does it while your driving then its the power steering belt. but the belts are only like 10 bucks each, check for cracks/wear/tension of the belts, replace then if they look bad.
both..but as you drive you can barely hear it for the road noise and such takes over..even looking at it..i wouldnt even be able to tell if its needed to be changed or not..how do i even reach all the way thorguh that tight squeeze anyways. as i drive in the 1st gear..the whine goes with the rpms..sound like the noise when you reverse..loose belt maybe?
most likely its your a/c belt , same thing is happening to mine , just tighting the belt, you can do it yourself by jacking up the car and doing it underneath.
Btw , how many post do you need to have to eliminate the trial user avatar?

You can also try using some belt dressing. I picked up some awhile
back at Wal-Mart for about $2; Prestone makes it. You'll find that in
some cases belts will squeak even when they're brand new. If you
aren't sure exactly how many miles are on each belt, I'd recommend
changing them.
