Custom DIY crossmember thread
hey i'm looking to build myself a custom crossmember to give me the clearance that all us ef owners desire. i'm turning a few ideas over in my head and i want to know what you guys think, or what you the few of you guys that have done your own crossmember think.
i dont have a pic, but on the front of our cars there are usually two tow hook pcs that are on either side of the body, parallel with the rad. i am thinking of fabbing up new pcs, and running a bar straight across from them, basically under where the rad currently is. if you have seen the full race crossmember for the eg's you will get an idea of what i am talking about.
for the bars, i was thinking of using the stock bars and cutting/welding spherical rod ends to them, and then using the appropriate hardware weld those to the bar going across the front.
this would basically take out the whole stock crossmember, leaving a ton of room for whatever you wanted to put in there, and make it very easy to run a half-rad.
my questions are; will the single bar across the front bolted to those spots be enough support for the front end? and is having adjustment of the rods neccessary?

I would just start looking at Jimfab and Z10 models, make out a diagram of what it's going to look like and start building it, good luck and keep us informed
