AEM came out with a bypass hose uncase you ever submerge the CAI filter into a puddle of water so there's no need to worry. There's also more HP to be found with a CAI setup.

the aem by-pass valve is crap,
the only time that's gonna do anything is if your car is
submerged almost completely under water

With the short ram, you will get the power gains down low. With the CAI you get the gains higher up in the powerband.

i live in san francisco and sometimes it rains hard there are puddles on the freeway and in the intersections. its probably like 1-2 inch deep i guess. so the bypass wont do anything? i drive like around 80 mph on the freeway so the end bandwith wouldnt do anything for me rite?

Bypass saved me once. big time. eerie hearing the sound change over when my front end went a bit too deep in a 'puddle'... and more eerie looking at the filter dripping oily water all over the rubber cover afterwords. I say, get it.
