Default Anyone try different shocks for front and rear?

I'm very close to the day of my b16 swap. I just thought that I should also replace all 4 shocks since they are all blown.
I've made my decision for Tokico Illuminas. However, I don't think I have enough money for all 4 corners. Therefore I was thinking of getting the Illuminas for the front, and the Tokico Blue for the rears. This is because I'm not lowering the rear as much as the front (Front is 2" drop, rear is 1.5").
Has anyone tried this crazy concept? If so, how do you like the ride? Would it make a noticeable difference?
I am thinkning of going this route because this way it would save me $200-300.

I also understand that the smoothness of the ride depends on the springs. I currently have very crappy coilovers (I have no idea what brand it is, it is yellow)... but with decent new shocks, my ride will hopefully be ALOT better than these blown oem shocks.

Suggestions on this would be great

I have the same setup you speak of
whites in the front
blues in the rear

I have had ground controls 350f/250r rates and now have suspension techniques springs, I am going to install my ground controls with custom 450f/560r rate(rough on the back and neck sometimes).

The whites are decent in the front I had blues in the front before I blew the driverside(in 6months). Whites at 2/5 they are almost like the blues, at 3/5 they are stiffer, 4/5 would be good for semi firm street driving... I run them at 5/5 all the time, as I like it really firm

I would suggest you get the front shocks first to protect from bottoming out the oilpan/headers on the b16 , and dont get rear shocks at all and save up for illuminas all around.

But I am satisfied with the setup for what it is... I want koni's! want buy my setup?

Save up for what you really want or you will regret it later

I saved on and off for a year and just rode on blown shocks..
well worth it though. now I ride on koni/neuspeed sp3's with HR springs.

Hmm.. I do have another $2.5 Gs in the bank.... but I'm not sure if I want to spend it on more-than-necessary suspension (if you know what i mean). I just want decent suspension. However today i got some quotes and i think i might get this "tokico package":
4 Tokico Illumina
4 Tokico Springs by Eibach (1.8" drop)

total price: $940 CDN. which equals about $712 US (1.32 exchange rate)

This seems to be a WICKED deal so i might have to pounce on this one
