Do I need the water pump gear off of d16y7 to b2 when doing mini-me swap? Already searched
Preparing to make a d15b2 minime using a d16y7 head. I have a few questions:
1. Do I need the water pump gear from the d16y7 block? I don't know if the stock water pump gear will be compatible with the d16z6 timing belt.
2. Is it safe to get the crankshaft pulley nut loosened at a shop first, then drive it home? I don't live far from it, should it safe enough to drive back to finish the job?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You should be okay if you use the B2 water pump, there is no need for the Y7 pump as it may not even fit on the B2 block.
All SOHC D16/D15 T-belts are essentially the same, they just come in different lengths. There should be no fitment issues using the B2 water pump with the Z6 belt.
Don't risk driving the car with a loose crank pulley bolt!
Good Luck!
