Default Do I need the water pump gear off the block I got the head off of when doing a mini me? Already sear

Preparing to make a d15b2 minime using a d16y7 head. I have a few questions:

1. Do I need the water pump gear from the d16y7 block? I don't know if the stock water pump gear will be compatible with the d16z6 timing belt.

2. Is it safe to get the crankshaft pulley nut loosened at a shop first, then drive it home? I don't live far from it, should it safe enough to drive back to finish the job?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
