Si trannies have the code number with just letters.. if it has letters and numbers is a DX

these numbers PL3/3000, PL3/A000 have <U>nothing</U> to do with the gears that are inside - these are casting numbers for the back half of the L3 case - the 3000, 9000, etc. have the large differential bearings - the A000, A100, etc. have the small differential bearings - since most Si's have the large bearings, most with 3000, 9000, etc. will be Si, but not all - i happen to have 2 ZC transmissions, one PL3/3000 and one PL3/9000 - i have taken a PL3/A000 out of a one owner 88 CRX Si with 78,000 miles on it, to do a swap and it was definitely Si, with small bearings - have also had a PL3/3000 from a 91 CRX DX that was a DX transmission with the large bearings - also have a 4 speed from 89 STD hatch that is PL3/A000 - the only way you can tell for sure is by the gears
