Default Skunk2 Stg.1 cams on stock B16A???

I want to go turbo later on down the line, but for now, I wanna see what my B16 is capable of in All-Motor trim...so far these are the mods I have on my car, its a 92 DA Integra with a B16A in it. For some reason, some people say I got a rare version of the 1st gen B16A....I could be wrong, but peeps say its a 5-in-a-million motor....dunno what they mean by it....anyway.....I have a Tanabe RM catback exhaust, OEM airbox with K&N filter, and a DC Sport 4-1 header, JUN flywheel, and DC Sport ss. I was talking to a friend of mine and he recommended Skunk2 Stg 1 cams. What do you guys think of them? I was planning on getting Toda Spec A's but he says that they are too much money and that I could probably get the saem HP with Skunk2 as with Spec A's and that Skunk2 's are cheaper than Toda.

My B16 has stock compression. Would I need to raise my compression in order to see power improvement? If I have to, would CTR pistons do? Keep in mind that later on down the line, I might go turbo also, so I dont wanna go too crazy with all-motor, but if I like it, then I might just stay NA....hehehe! Can I run those cams with no problems as far my compression goes?

your freind is correct. skunk2 stage ones are EXCELLENT cams for a stock compression motor. i ran them in my b16 an they made a big difference. if your planning on going all motor, but turbo later on, heres my advice. try the stage ones, get an intake manifold, (skunk2 or JG are both dualy versatile in NA an TURBO) an tune tune tune. you can pick up as much as 20 whp in the midrange with good tuning from stage 1 cams. an you dont need to up your compression. if your going to go turbo, you def dont want to up the compression, but higher compression will give you more power. IMO, you have a DA, they are heavier than a standard civic an crx. my buddy has a fully built LS/VTEC in his da with a ys1 tranny, an my b16 wuth just skunk2 stage 1s was a dead even race. he has over 5000 just in the motor alone. with your particular chassis i would go boost. i havent seen to many DA around here that are fast all motor.

thanx man, by the way, can someone verify that thing for me as far as people saying about my rare B16? Everyone around here jocks it like if it was a Type R.....I do know one thing, the OEM intake manifold looks different from other B16's. Dunno what the big deal is...people say it has something to do with the little numbers under the engine code B16A...mine starts with a "5"...

that just means you have a 5million series motor. means it was produced later on in productiuon then most b16s. i have owned a 1 million an a 5 million, there is no difference. same hp, same torque. the overall condition is usually better though. also stage ones, i just sold mine for $500 shipped. an in case you plan on getting some other type of cam, stage one is about all you can use on stock compression. to use a stage 2 cams youll need to change pistons an valvtrain. check out http://www.m24x.com , he makes cams that are in between a stage 1 an a stage 2 and they make more power than stage ones. his name on this board is ROCKET an hes an awesome guy. IM him and ask him what cam he can sell you an for how much. i m building a gsr motor an i got his m24 cams for a really good price compared to what else is out on the market. good luck
