Default Looking to buy a S2K...

I'm looking to buy a 2000-2003 S2000 in the next couple months. I'm jsut curious if there is anything special I should look for?

Any advantage to buying a 2002-03 S2K vs. a 2000 or 2001? I know I don't want a 2004(too $ and I prefer the older ones).

Any telltale marks of being abused?

Anything in particular I should look for?

For those of you who own a 2000-2003 S2K:
Is there anything that has gone wrong since you had your S2K that I should look for in buying a used S2k?

Any problems with the plastic window vs. the glass window?

Here's a few ads I've found that seem decent. Tell me what you think!

This one seems like an excellent deal! 2000 S2K with 17.7k for $20,000

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...t=197

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...t=142

Thanks...and I'll keep you updated on my S2K purchase!

I was looking at that exact S2000 on autotrader too. Pretty much on the same boat as you.

after some period of time, you wont be able to see good with plastic.
glass is way to go
00 with 17k for 20k sounds good but you might want to do more research on it.
if you can test drive it, do it and see if anything is wrong with it. i think that is your best bet.

Glass window is definitely something you want to go with. You can retrofit the glass tops any model, but why go through the hassle if you can just pick one up and negotiate right then and there?

Glass window is hassle-free and gives the S2000 a "richer" look. The plastic window makes the car look pretty cheap from the back end, especially if they've been around for a year or two or three.

Good luck!

after 01 they added chrome rings in the tailights IMO = , and a couple interior changes like tweeters in the doors, the gunmetal panels are lighter, the radio has more features that allow you to change treble, bass, etc... and the shift knobbber changed also... all IMO = I also believe the wheels are a darker tint of silver.

Prices on S2000s are really depressed in the northeast region right now. The market is simply flooded with lots of low milage used S2000s. So there are plenty to choose from. That combined with the time of year really makes it a buyer's market.

Just about 1 month ago, I bought a 1 owner 2000 model with only 12,600 mi for $19,400. I bought it from a Honda dealership as a Certified Used Honda with 1 yr bumper to bumper warranty and powertrain coverage to 7yr/100,000 from date of original purchase.

nice....i'm sure 00'yr S2000's are coming off their 3-year leases so that's probably contributing to the deluge in the NE

im sure its possible, plastic windows are known to **** out fast so im sure theyde make it removable. ide do the same thing you wanna do. buy a 2000 for less $$$ then upgrade sum stuff to the 2003 specs. but thats justme i guess.

you should be able to find one in the 19-22k range, the value has gone down some in the past year. good luck to you on finding one, and i hope it all works out for you

there are soem diferences between the years moslty small one
theres the galss window which is also heated
on the 2000 there is a clutch TSB that makes it buzz nad acceloration and decceloration mostly on decel
the chrome rings on the tails were added in 01 or 02 not sure
they also added the stock leather center consol in 02 i believe
I'm pretty sure im missin soem stuff but check out S2ki.com they have a page with the model differences marked out real clear

Good luck on finding one!

yes there is a guy in Denver that swaped it out.... you can not just switch just the window part .... you have to swap the WHOLE soft top ... the reason is because the glass window is much smaller than the plastic one becuase it cant fold. IMO it is not worth swaping.... if you get one with the plastic lay a towel down in the soft-top tray so the plastic doesnt rub against the bottom ... and KEEP IT CLEAN
