not hard at all. to be enviro-safe you should have the freon evacuated. unless there is no freon left.
i don't have a/c...and i live in texas too...but no regrets.

the compressor is pretty easy just a couple of bolts
brackets and cut the belt. a ratchet with a 10,12,14mm
the hoses is really easy a couple of adjustable wrenches
the condenser is the only one that you have to remove
the radiator and fans so you could get access to it 10mm sockets and a pair of
pliers.

i had mine out in a matter of minutes after i pulled my radiator at. the condensor is just held in by i think 4 bolts, i could be wrong, a couple pipes that come out with a bolt, pretty easy, and the little bottle of freon is attatched by i think 2 bolts.

yea ok, you need 2 things from honda. the firewall plug for an integra that didnt have ac from the factory and also the tube that replaces the a/c unit nuder the dash. it connects the blower motor to the heater core. then just remove everything else. if u really wanna feel special you can buy the **** that doesnt have the a/c button in it.

the fan comes on after the car is shut down to help cool off the engine compartment and get the coolant down in temp. mine does it only in summer, never bothered me any.
i wouldn't take out the 2nd fan...it is there for more than the a/c.
it is an auxiliary to the main fan. it would be good for an oil or trans cooler.
