205/50-15s vs 195/55-15s pros/cons of the sizes?
Hey all,
I'm looking for a new set of track tires. Given that they will go on a stock 15" GSR rim, same brand/model of tire. SO the only difference would be tires size.
Pros & Cons?
195/55s
Pros:
-stock size
-"softer" ride compared to 205s
-cheaper $$ compared to 205s
Cons:
-taller sidewall compared to 205s, which means more sidewall flex
205/50s
Pros:
-stiffer sidewall vs. 195s in terms of performance
Cons:
-not a 100% match in diameter
-cost more $$ compared to 195s
So, aside from the ride, I guess the biggest question is, is there any performance difference between 205/50 and 195/55?
Thanks!

195s fit the rim better and therefor handle better. they are also cheaper.
205s have more grip for drag racing i guess...

Awesome..the purpose of these tires won't be for draggin, but for HPDE...
So 195/55s it is then! Save myself some money too!
Any other comments or thoughts?

205 will not help on 6" wide stock rims, the sides will curve up, therefore the full width of the tire is not on the ground. it might help a BIT, but WAY not worth it. stick with 195 on stock rims. 205, is a bit wide for 6.5", PERRFECT for 7", dont think about 205 for 6" stockies
