Big brake kits - which one to get?
Now I need quality, because I can't afford to have rotors braking. I need performance, though, because I like to drive fast, and when I do that, I want to be able to stop. Also, I go to alot of car shows, so I want them to look pretty (like the AEM's do but NOT the AEM's).

fastbrakes kits rule, and their cheap.
wilwood makes sick **** too, pretty cheap and very great performers.
find a wilwood kit if you want over 12" brakes....
maybe fastbrakes can hook you up with a cheaper but HUGE wilwood kit????

AEM calipers are made by Nissin which is the same compnay that makes Spoon, Project Mu. Endless and a couple other after market calipers.
The rotor might be a brembo peice but the rotor hat is different from the Brembo piece.

maybe AEM offers both calipers but the one that is in all of their ads is made by Nissin. When I emailed them a while back they said the calipers where made in Japan by Nissin.
You might have gotten a Brembo kit for AEM but their AEM kit uses Nissin calipers..
so we are both correct...

you can see on the back of the caliper, that little text thats raised up. thats where it says brembo..
i didnt know it til i was workin on my car the other day taking my timing belt off. i was like whoa wtf, they are brembo? sick

That one is a Brembo caliper with an AEM sticker. That caliper looks exactly like the OEM GTR/Lancer EVO/WRX caliper. When AEM first started selling a big brake kit for Imports they used the Nissin made caliper with a two piece rotor from somebody else. Unbeknownst to most people but Brembo does make a big rotor/4 piston caliper setup that will fit under SOME 15" wheels. It is normal for parts dealers or big shops tobuy the right to put their name on somebody elses product. Look at Top Fuel... they don't produce anything. They just add stickers to HKS and Blitz products with a 30% markup. Top fuel does make some in-house parts but at 2 to 3 times the cost of well established companies. ENjoy your clampers bro'... good catch on the Bimbo's...
yeah i was originally going to get the brembos but i couldn't find them for less than $2000. when i found out the aems were going for $1800 i was like cool. so i go to my local shop to buy them and he gets them for $1250. fucked up how bad mark up is on some things.
yes, they are clampers. 100-0 slamming on the brakes with no tire lockup or abs kicking in.....it is....nice.

Hey immortal, I was just wondering if the AEM logo thats on the side of the calipers are stickers. Im asking cause I got (what appears to be) the same kit as the AEM from a friend. On the sides of the calipers they said "COOLTECH", well one day I was cleaning them and I realized that they were stickers! So after taking off the name I noticed that some black paint was coming off with it. And what do you think it said under the paint.... "PORSCHE". But ya, the AEM caliper thats in the picture is dead on a Porsche (which is ultimately a Brembo) caliper. No matter what its still a kick *** brake kit!
Got any close up pictures?

i'm taking them off but i just have to think of what i want to put up on them

i sold the konig rated-r's. i'm getting 17" rota subzeros in flatblack/gunmetal (whichever i can get my hands on first) so that the rotors stand out pretty good.

Sorry no pics, I havent put them on just yet.
Good choice on the flatblack/gunmetal. IMHO the Kosei K1's are oh so perfect for the brake kit.

Sounds like most of you are recommending the AEM, since it's made by Brembo, which is a good name, and I can get those for alot less than the actual Brembo kit.
What I dont get is that why so many others on this board seem to hate the AEM brake kits. They talk about how the rotors break all the time, and everyone on this post seems to really like them. Plus, if they're made by Brembo, why don't they talk about how Brembo sucks, too?
Interesting . ..

cause 95% of the people on messageboards are biased towards one thing once they hear ONE person they think knows it all say something about them.
so many people are uneducated and spread bullshit. thats why i stopped posting on certain messageboards. even on this messageboard random bullshit ges spread around and its annoying. everytime someone asks a question, people will answer the questions, but they are completely wrong. very ******* annoying. its cool when people try to help out, but if you really dont know something.....just dont post...

Well, you have to remember that there is a huge price difference between the brembo kit and the AEM kit made by Brembo, they cant be the same are they?
anyone know for sure?
I think a lot of prople do NOT like the AEM big brake kit that uses stock calipers, those kits are assssssss.
