i was thinkin about buying a 98 prelude turbocharged i was wondering if it was smart b/ its forsale for $8,500 with 119000 miles just wondering what would be smart.

 

I think it would be smarter to buy my 98 SH with 84K miles on it non-turboed for $12,500.

Not trying to take you away from the other car, its just you never know in what condition the car is in because its turboed.

 

i would do that but im kinda at a low price range of around 8 so thats why i cant do that

 

Consider the fact that the car didn't come with a turbo option. And unless the car/motor was professionally built its probably not that reliable of a machine.

 

auto or manual? might be my old lude?

 

its a 5spd with a turbonetics turbo system, greddy evo exhaust and its got a diff. fuel system but inm not sure what it is yet

 

I would get a mechanic to ENTIRELY check the car before you buy it. There are tons of things that can be or have already gone wrong with the car being turboed. Who knows what psi or how hard the person drove it and for all we know it could be ready to blow.

Mine, on the other hand, had all the work done by ME and everything is in perfect working condition!

Nah, but seriously, just make sure to check the car from front to back before you buy, the last thing you want is the motor to blow 2 days after you buy it and end up having to spend $3000 for a new motor.

 

giving the car the benefit of the doubt that it is in pristine condition, it would be a STEAL

 

ask if the block has been sleeved and what forged pistons are in it.

If it hasn't been sleeve walk away...it will blow any minute and you have a full rebuild on your hands.

turbonetics/fmax kit
fully installed, and tuned @ a safe 6psi.
3in custom exhaust
2 sets of rims w/ tires (17in and 18in)
viper gts blue paint job
boost guage, and turbo timer all installed
60,000 original miles (half the miles, than the one your looking at right now!)
asking price: 16,000 obo

its always a risk when it comes to buying used cars... why should he believe in ur word if he asking about a turboed 'lude here.....

i personally wouldn't recommened buyin' a car w/ turbo if its gonna be a daily driver...

but 119k on a <u>98</u> prelude turbocharged for 8 grand tho... fawk... it makes u think wut kinda abuse did he put on the motor during the 6 years of the car....

i mean.. u want something that can last right????

98/w 119k miles or a 98/w 84k? His car has been driven ALOT for the year, plus we dont even know how many of those miles were under boost. Im not saying mine is the better buy, its the SAFER buy. Im just using it as an example, im not here trying to sell it to him.

not saying thats a bad deal...but i must be low balling myself...i was think about selling mine w/a built engine putting down 500 whp for around that price...but it is a 4th gen

 

hey... we could all just solve this by buying my dealer serviced, one owner, girl driven 2000 sh thats a 5 speed manual with 60,000 miles for $13,000
