Default Need advice buying '97 - '98 Prelude

I'm looking into getting a Prelude. One is a '97 with 90,000 selling for $10,000. The other is a '98 with 77,000 miles selling for $11,500. Since they're Hondas, I don't really expect any major problems or maintenance beyond replacing the timing belt.

Is there anything in particular to look out for?

Also, do those seem like fair prices? They seem to be pretty reasonable based on the other Preludes in the AutoTrader.

Thanks!

Don't get the SH, it has ATTS which sucks.

Check out this thread for great info:

Around 60-90k a lot of tranny experience synchro problems, other then that it's a pretty low maintanance car.

Yeah I havent heard anything good about atts. Lots of extra components and I also heard it brakes a lot. However this is only what I heard.

Hi, i own a 97 ss (auto stick), don't get auto. No need to explain Y, just don't.

As for the sh, please don't get that trim due to more weight (slight increase) and the ATTS.

As for the prices, that is kinda high, i am in chicago, a 97 with 100k will go for 6 g's and the other would go for 8 g's. So, i'd really look into the pricing.

Buy a base prelude, nice and easy...

If your gonna keep it stock get the Type SH it looks nicer and it handles better.

If you plan on doing a lot of mods get the base.

Pricing seems just about right...remember that you're in california so it will cost more than most states.

Yeah, I'm going to get the base model with a five-speed.

Cars seem to be much more expensive in California, especially Hondas, and the absolute lowest-priced '97 Preludes I can find go for are over $8K. Heck, '96 - '01 Civics still sell for close to $10K!

At any rate, I'll keep an eye out for better prices.

Thanks for the help.
