Doin a major tune-up on 00 Prelude - help with plug choice!
Doin a major tune - up on 2000 Prelude. I know to stick to NGK plugs - but which ones? They have
v-power
g-power platinum
laser platinum
iridium ix
which set would be best for N/A versus turbo setup?
thanks

Platinums are for N/A, not turbo. NGK is the way to go. End of story.
If you run turbo, run the NGK 3330's gapped to about .030. You do not want a V electrode when running turbo as well. I think XES might run one, but in theory I have been led to believe you want a flat tip electrode. I also think iridium's are a waste of money. At advanced auto parts you have a 1yr warrantee on any NGK plug. That means when you change them, tell them they fouled out and you get another set for free

From my experience... I'd have to go with V-power. They usually go for around $10 for a set of four. What mods do you have done to your motor?
a lot of people say that iridium's are a waste of money, but i have enjoyed them in both my gs-r and my lude si. they are awesome plugs. much better imo than stockers. definate improvement in throttle response.
AEM CAI, DC ceramic header, Hondata IMG
, Trust Evo exhaust, V-AFC, Mobil-1 5-30 synth
Also, any suggestions as far as what kind of wires to go with, and what diameter core? Thanks

The stock plugs are just fine if the engine is unmodified. Anything more in the way of type or heat range and I want to see the Dyno sheets to prove that they are significantly better than stock. Again-this is MY opinion for an unmodied engine, other than an intake and exhaust.
Now to the hotly debated subject of plug wires. For over 30 years I have used Accel and now NKG wires without any problems at all. If you look carefully at the ratings for resistance per foot these 2 brands are about as good as they get. Nothing real fancy-they just work. I replaced a set of 1989 stock wires on the CRX with NGK's and the motor runs fine. We even checked the stock wires and they were still good after 12+ years/176k miles--go figure that one out. Our Civic HB (sold) had the Accel wires on it and ran great too. Did I dyno - NO. All I can say for sure is that what is on our CRX and Prelude (NGK) are very high quality and worth the price.

When I did my "major tune up" I changed the distributor cap + rotor, and I got the blue highp performance NGK wires with the coil pack included and NGK Iridium and I did notice some difference.
From my experience NGKs and iridiums are a good way to go, at least for NA.
