Default Yamaha FZ6

First off I know this is a Honda board, so sorry for posting about a Yamaha. Anyways, I have been checking out the new FZ6 and have fell in love. R6 motor, but tuned more the midrange (perfect!), more of an upright seating position, underseat exhaust, and fuel injected (anyone know why Yamaha put 2 different FI systems on this bike: 1 system for cyl. 1&4 and the other for 2&3)?

Just a few thoughts... the bike retails for $6,500. I know dealers wont drop off as much off as car dealer will, but what is a reasonable offer on a new bike that retails for 6.5k? I went up to the dealer today and the salesman says the dealer makes no extra money if I bought the bike with cash vs. financing... is this true?

I also just saw a '03 600 RR for sale on these boards for the same $6,500. The double R is really my dream bike, but the price of a new one was just too much. Can legitimate, clean, cared for double R's really be found for this price??

Thoughts?...

Just because we're a Honda board doesn't mean we're close-minded! Well, maybe just a bit. But there's a few members here that don't own Honda motorcycles. No idea about the FI system, though. Can't imagine there would be a large increase performance-wise; maybe it's to prevent the bike from having a snatchy throttle...?

From what I've seen, when you finance, you will be paying more after everything is added up. If the financing is throug the dealership, then they can make more money than if you purchased the bike outright. If you finance outside of the dealership, then the dealership doesn't earn any more money (but your financier does). See if you can get the bike for $6500 out the door, and possibly with some "free" gear included. Since it's a new bike, don't expect a lot of haggling on the price.

Yes. If you search long enough and have the patience, you can come across great deals.

Thanks for the response. I am not the type to go out in a day and drop $6k+ on anything, so I think I may hold out for what I REALLY want. I mean seriously, why buy an inferior Yamaha when you could have a double R with 3k miles for the same price?!? You are right, patience and research is key. Might as well tone my patience skills even further now that I am looking into a bike.

Anyone else know about the FI system the FZ6 uses? I asked the guy at the dealer today and he was clueless.
