Need piston advice for ls/vtec with itr cams, valves and springs......
Hey guys, I plan on running a 2000 b16 head with ITR cams and intake valves and springs (i'm gonna throw the si intake valves and springs on the exhaust side). I'm just curious what would be recommended for pistons, I'm debating between p30 JDM SIR2 pistons and USDM OR ITR P73 pistons. The price difference between the pistons is quite small, but I don't want to bump the compression to a point where 91 octane won't do the trick. Any advice would be great.
I have a similar set as the one you're thinking of. If you use ITR pistons with the B18a/b block and B16 head, you'll be fine with compression. I have to run 91octane all the time, but that's to be expected with the motor I had built. The b16 pistons are nice, but the ITR's give a good manageable high compression. ust don't jump the gun and go with CTR pistons. Good luck
yeah man, u've got almost exactly what i plan to run. The pistons are exactly the same price (itr and jdm sir), so I think i just may go with the itr pistons. The total for pistons and rings on jdmhondaparts.com is like $279 USD, which seems like a good price.
Would I be able to run a lower octane fuel with the p30 pistons instead of the p73 pistons. Gas is more expensive up here
